Emma Belle Freeman, (1880-1928) Artist-Photographer
By Ron Johnson & Coleen Kelley Marks. Emma Belle Freeman was one of the most diverse photographers of Northern California, with landscape photographs, portraits, nudes, documentary events, Native American series and more in her extensive body of work. What places her among the stars of early 20th Century photography is her artistic approach to most of her photographs, which went beyond that of any other local photographers. In addition she was an unusual woman breaking the molds of conventional behavior and establishing unique social standards. This book is lavishly illustrated with examples of her work.
