Humboldt Links to the Golden Gate with Ray Hillman

  • Eureka Branch of the Humboldt County Library 1313 3rd Street Eureka, CA, 95501 United States (map)

Historian Ray Hillman will present a slideshow and artifacts as he shares the many and diverse links between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Humboldt Bay Region. Some of these connections are obvious: maritime commerce, the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. Others may not be as widely recognized. Hillman will tell the tales of a female commercial photographer, architects of well-known Humboldt buildings, the sculptor of Arcata’s McKinley, and a warship built in SF and wrecked in the rough waters off of Eureka’s coast.

Library programs presented by the Historical Society are always free and open to the public. Arrive early to save your seat!
