The Humboldt History Symposium is a regional one day conference connecting professional and amateur local historians, representatives of regional historical organizations, including university faculty, students, and researchers in the local community. Our purpose is to energize our local and regional historical community in celebration of and engagement with historical narratives.

The day's events will include 20-minute, lecture style presentations. If you wish to have the provided lunch, your $5 donation helps offset the cost. The keynote speaker will be renowned historian, Ray Raphael. Other features of the event include the exhibit walk, lunch, and a raffle.

Lunch will be catered by the Humboldt Soup Company and features a wrap, either (1) chicken with sun-dried tomato pesto with mozzarella cheese and local organic veggies, or (2) vegan, which is hummus, sprouts, tomatoes and avocado. Harvati cheese will be available to add to the vegan wrap, if desired. Either choice can be made gluten-free on request. The chicken wrap can be made dairy-free upon request. The box lunch will also have a cookie, fruit, and freshly-made sweet potato chips. There will be an assortment of canned sodas (for easy recycling), water, and coffee to drink.

This project is being co-hosted by the Clarke Historical Museum and the Humboldt County Historical Society, and was made possible with support from California Humanities, a non-profit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, among other local organizations.
