This page discusses the collections available in the Research Library of the Humboldt County Historical Society.
Collection list contains a list of over 50 collections that have been donated and archived at the society. Many collections have been added since this list was created. We will update the list. Come visit the Society to view these documents and many more!
HistorianThe Historian is the quarterly journal published by the historical society. Membership includes a subscription to the journal. Articles published in the journal focus on many aspects of local history of the county
In the Historical Society there are several filing cabinets filled with documents, articles and other publications. These are organized by topic and are easily accessible to visitors. If you cannot make it into the society, e-mail us for help on your research. This is the list of topics available: General Information File (GIF).
Times Standard ArticlesMonthly articles are published in the Times Standard. They are written by Suzanne Forsyth, editor of the Humboldt Historian. An Index by date of the articles is available with links to the articles.
Census IndexAn alphabetical list is at the top of the page. Once you're on the page of the alphabet you want to use, click in the center of the page. To search for a particular name or date press Ctrl, F on your keyboard. In the box type one word and click Find. If the word is on the page, the page image will scroll down to the term and it will be highlighted.
The Will Index is set up in a similar manner as the Census Index. The list of pages of Will information is listed. Click the link that may contain the information you need. Once you're on the page, use the Ctrl, F command to Find the word/ name you need.
