    Falk's Claim is the story of the logging town founded in the 1880s in the Elk River Valley southeast of Eureka. Gates tells the story through the eyes of the town's survivors. The author is a fourth-generation Humboldt County native who has spent many years interviewing, researching, writing and collecting photographs for this pleasing tale with its element of sadness.
